Project Framework

The TransForMon project creates a comprehensive and coordinated cross-border framework for understanding forest development in the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland National Parks and for unifying forest monitoring and communication processes. The project integrates long-term archival sources on forest development (historical aerial photographs, satellite data, earlier inventories) with current UAV and field measurements and forest data from the National Park Administrations into a joint system that enables the evaluation of forest changes at multiple spatial and temporal scales. Based on these data, a unified cross-border forest monitoring methodology is being developed, harmonising practices between the two national parks and providing a basis for shared procedures, data exchange, and standardisation. Another part of the framework is coordinated communication with the general public, schools, tourists, and the professional community, making use of modern visualisation and educational tools within the emerging cross-border information system.
